Honouring GRIEF and LOVE to HEALING: Our son’s first Christmas in Heaven

Remembering Our son Donivin Kostamo in this Christmas Season
The year 2018 has been the toughest moment that our family has ever face since my 14 years old son passing on March 11th 2018.
It’s almost Christmas and it seemed that most people are gearing up for holiday cheers. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Except for those who fall in the category of loss and grief.
I have been having a mixed feeling this christmas season since my son’s transitioning to heavenly realm. I didn’t feel like decorating the christmas tree at all nor even take it out of the box. But today I received a private message from a dear friend of mine and she brought a ray of sunshine from above about my son’s, Donivin, memory on this christmas season. She sent me a picture about christmas. So with that brilliant gesture and amazing idea, I decided to flow the christmas spirit with her inspiration and started decorating my tree in memory of my son, and to celebrate with my family as well. So here’s the picture I took of my christmas tree inspired by the thoughtful gesture from my friend- it was indeed a powerful idea. I have her to thank for for bringing a huge smile, tears of love in my heart, and to honour the love we have to our son Donivin in heaven. So instead of a star on top of a tree, the idea was to put my son’s sea cadet hat on top of the tree, by that he is still part of our christmas celebration in spirit and in our hearts…(until we meet again, my beloved child).
I also pray for those who are experiencing loss and grief this Christmas that may you find courage to see the light and bring that light inside your home, within your hearts, and with your family, to celebrate anyway in memory of your loved ones in heaven just like I did. And if you haven’t yet feel that love and light in this moment of loss and grief on this christmas season, it is okay to take the space and time to be in the moment of BE STILL AND KNOW… it’s going to be okay, one step closer, and one day at a time as you heal forward.
May you and your loved ones cherish every moment this christmas time! Make it memorable as a gift of experience!
With love and light,
Grace Kostamo
